Days that led to the 1st of July

Pretty long post. If you’re too busy to read everything, skip to Thursday before the wedding :).

Week before the wedding. Almost everything is in order. That was the week the entourage are scheduled to have their final fitting. For the flowergirls, it was to be their second and last fitting, together with their shoes. Much to our dismay, the feet of two of the girls, Nikki and Ayen, grew about half an inch from the time they had their measurements taken about six months ago. Nikki also grew up about 1.5 inches! Lesson learned: Little girls tend to grow really fast (especially the feet), so it is advisable to have their dresses and shoes made later than everybody else.

Around this time as well, I was resigned to the fact that our entourage would not be complete. My sister Sherry, who’s Matron of Honor, was not able to take leave from her Masteral Externship in the US. Jao, Rissa’s partner for the candle, got himself a new job and was sent abroad for a month and shall be back only on the night of our wedding day! My family had a slight problem with the mom of one of the Junior Bridesmaids, that I never expected the kid to still come to the wedding. I sent her dress and shoes though. One of the Ninongs was suddenly on a Business trip abroad (He sent his chief of staff to stand for him.). One of the Ninangs who is Chinese said early on she can’t promise she’d be there as her dad is critically ill (she asked that she be proxied instead). Lesson learned: I cannot control circumstances.

Weekend before the wedding. On Friday (June23), my fabulous Baddicts lady friends threw a shower for me (while their better halves threw a stag for Hubby somewhere in QC). We did it at my brothers’ apartment, and sans the naughty strippers, it was actually a blast…endless eating and chikahan (and wondering what our partners were up to, hahaha!) Later, we met with the boys at Starbucks Metrowalk to cap the night off.

The next day was Joaquin’s (my nephew and ring bearer) 3rd birthday parties day. :) So it was a no-wedding-planning day. He had 2 parties that day, a Jollibee kiddie party at SM North Annex from 10-12nn and then an Italianni’s party at Greenhills from 3-6pm. It was a tiring day but Joaquin even had enough energy to play with his gifts until 11pm that day!

Sunday was farm day, another non-wedding related day. We woke up really early and drove to San Miguel Bulacan, hiked a bit, planted some trees, harvested some mangoes, and was back in Quezon City a bit after lunch. I rested for a while and started to ready myself for a dinner get-together with my college galpals at Marina in Glorietta. What’s supposed to be a last-single-birthday-get-together-and-some-announcement-day for Rissa turned out to be a shower for me really. Hehhehe…of course I expected that my friends were up to something but I didn’t want to spoil it for them. Nax! It was sad though that some other friends of mine didn’t make it, even if Odie and Rissa were planning for that day for a month or so. My then h2b was part of the planning, yessss! :) It was a wholesome affair with us having a very quiet dinner , albeit naughty conversations, eheh. I opened the gifts right there and Rissa happily snapped on with her cam, and with me sheepishly showing off the lingerie they gave. The highlight of the night is the distribution of the souvenirs of my shower: P*n*s-shaped chocolate lollipops! Hahaha! So cute!

Monday, June 26. I had my final fitting (for my bridal gown and reception dress). My dresses fit really well, I’m so glad! About a week ago, I insisted on having my fitting even if I was not scheduled to have one…only because I felt I gained weight…which I did huhuhu. So the days leading to that fateful final fitting day, I was dieting! And my dieting paid off, huh! I was asked to go back the next day for the fitting of my hotel preps clothes.

Hubby picked me up from Eddie’s shop and off we went to meet up with Clarice for our final meeting. We met her at Starbucks Congressional. That, my friends, is when I realized we are actually okay with everything. We summarized the things we need to do and prepare, like payments and small details for the wedding. What can I say, Clarice is so organized, discussing things part by part, making sure not to miss anything! Then we practiced a bit: how I should walk on the aisle, meeting my parents down there, leading to my groom, kissing my parents, how Ane should take my hand from my dad, him leading me to his parents and then finally to the Altar. Man! That gave me the bumps!

Oh by the way, we started offering eggs to Sta. Clara in Obando this day. And we continued doing so until Friday, the eve of the wedding.

Tuesday. I was not able to go back to Eddie but I did a little shopping for beddings for our new bed. I had the urge to do that since we hardly did anything for the pad we are going to live in. I realized the least I could do is prepare the bed we are going to sleep in!

In the evening, my Kuya Jun helped me with the Trivia Cards (Mec’s idea) and our email address cards, so our guests can email their shots of the wedding to us (Nap and Rhea’s idea). We also prepared the Table names for the zoning as well as the Menu cards for the Presidential and VIP tables.

Wednesday. I went to Eddie to fit my Hotel preps clothes. I’m so happy with it! Kuya Jun, Joaquin, Susan and I went to the mall afterwards to buy Susan clothes for the wedding. She is assigned to look after Joaquin during the wedding.

We went home and continued doing the the table cards. Later in the afternoon, we had an intimate family only gathering at home to celebrate Joaquin’s 3rd birthday.

I also started preparing and labelling the boxes to be brought the hotel. Three boxes all in all, aside from my small luggage :)

Thursday.
Ane was officially on leave until July 10! I was supposed to pick up the ento dresses and shoes from Eddie’d shop at 9am but the van I borrowed from my Mom broke down and they had to fix it first in Laguna. When it was finally running, the aircon gave up on the driver while cruising C5. So there, I was late for my appointment with Eddie’s assistant and I had to endure the heat and smog of the city!!! The shoes of Nikki and Ayen weren’t delivered yet so we had to go back and pick it up later that night. We delivered some of the dresses at Ane’s house and Ane was kind enough to accompany me (in Max, his car) to deliver some of the dresses in Bulacan (20minute-drive). We stayed in my shop until late in the afternoon. People commented how relaxed and ready we seemed to be. That’s actually how we felt. We were more than ready to spend the rest of our lives together!

When Ane refused to wait for me if I had my facial done, we decided it was time to head back to the city. The shoes were not ready yet, so we went straight to Brothers’ apartment and wait for the time. Since it was already late, I asked my Bro’s driver to deliver Nikki’s dress and shoes to their house while Ane and I delivered Rissa’s in Ortigas.

By the time we got back, The CD I asked my Brother Ryan to rip and burn for the entourage march was ready. It was instrumental and while listening to it, I was singing the lyrics. And it hit me! The song is actually about a couple who went separate ways! I naturally panicked and Ane was laughing at me and my idiocy, eehehehhe. The song is “Ikaw lang ang Mamahalin” by Joey Albert. I was taken by the melody that I failed to look at the song at it’s entirety (even if I play Martin Nievera’s version of the song in the car all the time!!!)! Imagine this happening at nearly midnight! And my internet connection suddenly decided it would falter…that I could not download another song that’s a lot more fitting. I tried to contact my “band” to share my dilemma but it was too late at night. Lesson learned: Not all songs with titles that include “Ikaw” and “Mamahalin” are perfect for perfect relationships and moments!

Ane left that night with me still worried about the song! Hahahhaha, napressure ang lola niyo! But I slept through the night still. It was the last night Ane and I were together…the next time we saw each other was while I was walking down the aisle to his arms. :)

Friday. I woke up early to fix my things, and finalize the contents of my boxes. My family was scheduled to check in at Edsa Shang that day. But I had to contact my “band” first…and it was agreed upon that my entourage march would be “Panunumpa” which shall be played on the piano live instead. At around 230pm, I was already settled in, and at 3pm, my assistant and two center attendants (one for mani/pedi, one for scrub) arrived to personally pamper me. Heavenness!! Haven’t had the chance to do that in a long time. In a while, I was soaked in bubble bath, read my latest local chismis mag, and enjoyed the moment. After the bath, I had my whole body scrub. Later, facial naman. After all that scrubbing and relaxing whole body massage, manicure and pedicure was next. I felt like a princess!!!

And then I remembered to remind Ane to have his manicure as well…He said he was already too tamad to go out as he had just had his bubble bath at our house! He even shared how he jokingly snapped at his parents saying “Lalayasan ko na kayo!!!” while carrying all his personal belongings to his new place, our place…which is just UPSTAIRS! Hehehe. Talk about being so excited…I bet he even embraced the new bed, ahihihi.

I didn’t go out for dinner anymore that night. I felt so refreshed already, so why spoil it? I just requested that some salad be brought back to my room so I could eat before I go to sleep. While my family was out, my Maid of Honor, Madel, arrived with her dad. She is going to stay with me for the night, acting like a real attendant hehehehe. When everybody got back, my bratty brothers decided to watch Superman and left Joaquin for me to babysit! Yep, I still babysat the night before the wedding! And the little boy refused to sleep until before midnight…after literally grabbing my side of the bed! The bratty brothers came back at 1am to fetch J. I was finally able to get my beauty rest.

Wedding Day
. My breakfast arrived at 7am. That’s a total of 6 sleeping hours! I’m so glad I’m so used to that amount of sleep, otherwise I would have been grumpy on my wedding day. As Tanya texted, “Looks like a perfect day to get married!”, I smiled and silently agreed…thanking God for such a wonderful morning.

One

One day to go. Tomorrow I'm gonna be a missus!!!!

I am amazingly calm, mind you. Yesterday, people commented how relaxed Ane and I are. I am actually more stressed with things not wedding related. Hehehe.

Later, my family is checking in the hotel already. Ane and his parents will just go there tomorrow morning.

Oh, I had two bridal showers last weekend (c/o our Baddicts friends and my college galpals), sans the stripper/s, were still all good and fun.

A big thank you to all who helped us prepare for this wedding. Our friends, our family friends, fellow Wawies. Hugs to all of you!

This is it!!!!

Shameless...ehehheehe

We did not avail of any wedding registry for personal reasons...but that doesn't mean we don't need, or will not appreciate, our guests' cash errrr gifts... :)

I guess it won't hurt anyone if we express our wishes (wink! wink!):

1. 29" (or bigger, ehhehe) Flatscreen TV -- for the home theater system we bought last Christmas (yep, pathetic as it may sound, nauna pa namin bilhin ang dvd player at speakers, ahahahaha!);

2. Four fluffy pillows and one body pillow;

3. Beddings for our King-sized bed (dark wood finish), preferably high-thread count;

4. Brand new Desktop computer (for my digiscrapping needs ahahahah);

5. Cash...cash...cash...

Of course, I'm kidding! We just want to have the people most close to us to share our special day. Gifts are just icing on the cake :)

Anyway, I am so happy and I feel so blessed that a lot of people are looking out for us, asking what our needs are, and simply offering the best they could give. They all know who they are. We are so thankful that we have received the following as early wedding presents:

Cash gift from my sister's in-laws...Boracay honeymoon package from one of the Ninangs (includes airfare!)...my sister and her husband for my gown and a bit of the entourage gowns...electric fan from one of Ane's relatives...our bed...our main/back-up photog, John Aguas, and a lot more from others who are helping us make this wedding happen. We started with so little and we're ending with so much more and with more than enough.

This post started with a joke and now I'm getting all cheesy, geeesshhhh...Must end now, hehhehe....

Lapit na!!!

Fifteen days to go, and most of my sidebar tasks are crossed out!! Yey!

The rest are really minor details.

I am so glad Clarice is around, making things sooo easy for me.

She's so awesome, she keeps me sane! :)

Canonical Interview

We had our interview last Saturday with the Parish priest of OLCP. The interview is a requirement before we could get our forms for the Banns. Ane was the first one to go, then it was my turn, then the two of us together.

I was kinda nervous about this interview. Ane was more nervous than I was (I think!) because he pissed me off big time the night before, ehehehe. Peace!

Anyway, it was easy, except that the priest spoke in english and he kept on eating his letters. I had to ask him to repeat some of his questions. But he tried to make it as light as possible, asking humurous/tivial questions such as:

"Do you plan to have an abortion?"

"Do you plan to leave the country and leave your spouse behind?"

"Are you religious?"

"Do you plan to kill him?"

I would flinch upon hearing the questions. But later I realized, it made sense, all of it. Afterall, marriage is a covenant that shouldn't be destroyed by no one or nothing but death.

I guess the priest just wants to be sure we are ready for such big commitment.

having problems with pasting pics..aaarrrggghhh!!!

What's with blogger?!? I tried attaching pictures to my last two entries and it just doesn't work. I tried uploading directly, but it returns an error. I tried adding codes to attach pictures from our yahoo album, it doesn't work either. Even if I use photobucket, I fail.

This is so frustrating especially when I so wanna share pictures!!! ***ranting...ranting..ranting..***

Anyway, it's wayyyy past my bedtime (in Ane's clock , that is!) so I gotta stop figuring it for now. If I don't get back later, just click on the links for the mean time.

big sigh.

Our Invites!!

I picked-up our invites today!! Click here to see other pictures and larger views.

Our invite by Spyder Creative is thermograph printed on Mocha and Ecru paper. The print is colored brown. We chose the cursive font ourselves because we didn't want to just follow the usual samples in a common invite these days. According to Ms. Adaline, this design has been in their catalogue since year 2004. Therefore, this is a not so new design afterall. But it is wonder why Ane and I immediately fell in love with this. It was in fact love at first sight!

Our love story with this "Tying the knot" invite started when we went to the March fair at the NBC Tent. We actually had a simple design in mind: A traditional rectangular (definitely not square) plain invite, that is three-folds and opens horizontally, the fonts to be used are plain print type (i.e. arial) and a not too cursive script (i.e. not scriptina or beautiful), not necessarily showing our motiff which is orange-green-yellow, and Spyder was most likely our choice to render what we had in mind. :)

As we were browsing thru Adaline's album, while she attended to another client, Ane suddenly said, "Ane, ito!!!"...and I didn't need some convincing anymore. :) We just felt it.

And we knew our hearts we're sold right there and then. c",)

Fittings

Updates first on how our day went last Tuesday. :) It actually started with a petty fight. Before picking up Ane, I drove thru McDo to fetch some breakfast. He said he wanted some fries and it was up to me what to add for him. So I ordered Egg Mcmuffin for myself and pancakes for him (plus the fries). When I reached their house, we left right away. While driving, he wanted me to feed him. I was willing to oblige only if he won't eat the pancakes with butter and syrup (it could get messy and malagkit, di ba?), but he like it with butter and syrup. I was being maarte I know, I didn't give in. So he started giving me the cold treatment and he would mumble things to himself. Hmp! Hay, I ended up saying sorry na lang...

We were able to accomplish almost everything. We got the guest passes from GR. Our sample Misalette was approved. Our church requirements are complete except for the banns and permit from my parish. The forms for which we will claim after our Canonical interview on Saturday. We got our contract from Ariel. Jao has his tela already. But we were not able to buy Ane's shoes. Sigh. We looked and we sought in vain.

Anyway, today is the entourage's third fitting (first for the flowergirls). It went on smoothly, no tantrums from the little girls, yay! Unlike when they had their measurements taken sometime in March, Ayen (one of the fg's) didn't like her measurements taken thinking that we were in a doctor's office! Hehehe, it was my first time to be stressed with anyone from the entou. See some pictures by clicking the link on the sidebar or here. And here are some of the pictures of today's fitting:

Updates! Updates!

I have so many long-over due kwentos and pictures to share, I tell you. Imagine, neglecting this blog for too long, obviously, there's just so much that I've been meaning to share.

One, we already have an on-the-day coordinator. Yay! Ane and I decided that to keep me sane, I need the support of professionals. And so since February, I have Clarice of An Event to Remember to guide me. In a few days time, we're gonna be doing the turn over already as we are about to reach the two-month mark! Sheesh!

Two, the female ento, mothers, flowergirls and bearers (except those who are in the US) had their measurements taken sometime March. This friday, they will be having their third fitting already!

Three, I myself will have my fourth fitting (wedding gown) & third fitting (reception dress) soon! My gowns are kinda delayed because E's assigned modista for my dresses got chicken pox so R was advised not to come to work for two weeks, heheheh.

Four, Tita Miles Hilario will be our florist/stylist for the entourage, church and venue. Finally! This is one decision we've been thinking over for quite some time now. Her quotation is kinda steep but then we are assured of the quality and I'm sure she will deliver pretty well. She did my bestfriend's ento flowers three years ago, and looking at our pictures, I am more than convinced that she is the right person to handle our flowers :).

Five, Spyder Creative will do our invites. After seeing Tanya's invite for her December wedding, Ane and I were quite convinced that Adaline (and her team) is our choice. It helped even more that Spyder was an exhibitor at the Bridal Fair at NBC Tent in March, so we were able to personally talk to Adaline. Our invites are scheduled to be delivered by May 6. Yey!

Six, we already have souvenirs. I went on a 2-day road trip to Legaspi, Albay, Bicol a week after my birthday. Oh well. I actually planned on this trip to buy abaca bags to serve as our souvenir (Seeing Mayon without the clouds covering it, church hopping in Naga, hearing mass at Peñafrancia, and eating at the famous Gumaca carenderia are just plusses :)). Now we are in the process of finding the right material for the packaging. Exciting! :)

Seven, our guest list and other church requirements are ready. For the guest list we are fixing the names (for the invites) and their contat numbers (for rsvp). I've laid-out and printed our sample misalette. We (rather, I...kuwento later) have our marriage license already! Yahoo!

That's it. Pictures later, promise :)

Love is sweeter the second time around...

Four years ago I was ecstatic but afraid.

But I, rather WE, decided to give the relationship another shot.

We acknowledged the fact that we weren't perfect individuals.

But we vowed to do our best to be perfect for each other.

I'm glad it worked.

HAPPY 4th ANNIVERSARY, ANE! I can't wait to be your wife. I love you!

Something to smile about

With less than six months to go, I woke up this morning thinking about the guestlist. I've been struggling with it since the start of the year...because in December, we practically did nothing for the wedding. So I texted Ane...

Me: Parang wala sa guestlist mo si D.B.? Nde mo talaga nilagay?
Him: Ala ba hehe. lagay mo po. asa list ko si EDC at KS di ba
Me: Nyeks, ala ka bang list sa 'yo? Yup kasama silang 2. Nde pa ba updated list mo, baka may nadadag or nabawas, pde ding i email mo po...
Him: Meron po. Nagta try pa ko magayos, pero la pa binabago
Me: Oks, kaya mo ba ma email yung changes today?
Him: E ala pa naman ako nababago e. dagdag lang si D kse nakalimutan nga. Double check mo din po...
Me: Ok, ok :) Gagawan ba ng save the date ang _____?
Him: Di ko pa alam hehe. c G pa lang may alam na ikakasal na ako hehe...
Me: Oks, nde ka ba nigu goosebumps when you say 'ikakasal na ako'? ...
Him: ...nakakakilabot hehe
Me: Hehe kaya nga (me grinning from ear to ear)

Well, it's true! I got that funny feeling when he said that. Ikakasal na kami. Malapit naaaa!!!!

Our Save-the-date Magnets

So this is the design that was voted the best among my layouts. I'm a newbie at layouting ... it was such a relief that my friends were actually able to choose at least one design, haha. And then I had the magnets printed by Made4U . They rushed the printing so we could get the magnets before Christmas. (Feeling ko naman kase matatapos ko ang packaging ng lahat lahat bago matapos ang taon duh, ako pa! Syempre pa hindi ko natapos agad hay).

Once I had the magnets on hand, I bought the packaging materials for mock-up from National Bookstore and SM. And when the outcome was already acceptable, I bought all materials right away (but did not start with the actual DIY project immediately hehehe...) I used handmade paper, glossy cardboard, cream-colored ribbons, translucent paper for the tags, eyelets, some glue and some thin double-sided tapes. Tadah!

So there. We spent P20 for each magnet and less than P5 for the packaging materials. DIY-ing rocks!! Can I just say I had a lot of help from our resto guard (for cutting the handmade paper to the desired size), my cousins for cutting, and from Ane and Gian (attaching the eyelets needs a lot of energy hehehe)...

Wedding Bands

Here's a picture of our wedding bands. Super simple, noh? Just the way we like it. They're so simple my mom even joked that couples who marry in a mass wedding choose bands like these, hehehe. Ane is not really the ma-jewelry type. I, on the other hand, love jewelry...am just not a "ring" person. Only when I got my engagement ring that I started to wear a ring everyday, geesh.
These are 14k imported white gold bands (3.4g mine, 3.5g his). Looks yellow in the pic but it isn't (I just could not find the right angle to shoot heheh more pics here). We were given 5% discount because we chose the bands off the shelves. And since we went to the store in Meycauayan where alaheras get their supply from, our bands are super duper cheap. We inquired in one bridal fair and we were quoted twice as much for the same simple design! Talk about big savings, hehehehe. Our rings are also already engraved with the oh so traditional nicks and date.
Can't wait to wear MY band!! :)

Another DIY project

The packaging for the Barong & Pants Tela for the Ninongs and Male Secondary Sponsors, and for the Cloth for Ninangs.

The vertical bags are for the secondary sponsors, while the horizontal ones are for the Ninongs. For the Ninang's tela, I've painstakingly sewn sinamai sheets to fit the folded cloths. The ribbons were bought in a stall in Market! Market!

Out target is to be able to deliver all bags to the owners before the month ends. We're done with three of them, FIFTEEN more to go! nyahahahah.
